“Yes, finally some money in my pockets. Time for me to prioritize and set a budget. What bills are due this week? Can I buy a new outfit for the party next Friday night? Should I eat today or put gas in my car? Is that last minute payment for my Apple Music subscription coming soon?” Continue reading My Go-To Favorite Places to Shop and Save
Creativity is step one. Innovation is step two.
Entrepreneurship requires strategic planning and execution. It is comprised of two major processes: creativity and innovation. Creativity is the ability to develop new ideas and ways to look at problems as well as opportunities. Innovations involves application of those creative ideas to actual problems and opportunities to enhance lives and to enrich a society. We all have ideas that we wish to implement but too often we allow these ideas to make our minds their home. Your ideas can become substance but you must be disciplined and determined as our young entrepreneurs.
These young individuals who have taken it upon themselves to bring their visions to reality. It is not easy, and it can be very scary. You may fail the first time or even the fifth time but if you want it, you have to go get it. Don’t live through others succeed, rather, use it as encouragement to obtain your own. You don’t really think about it as you’re scrolling through Instagram or Snapchat, but most of the time you’re subconsciously comparing yourself to the girl with 500 likes on her latest selfie without realizing the damage that is actually being done. The saying, “comparison is the thief of all joy” has never been more true in the case of social media sites. Before social media became as popular as it is, it was common to see a girl (or guy) and get a little jealous over what they had and wish it was yours. But in today’s world it’s a completely different deal when you’re constantly fixating on someone’s page; every picture, every Twitter post and Snapchat update, because you may want the life that this person claims to live. An inspirational woman is like a hero. Someone you know that wants you to strive and excel in life. Someone who will give you great advice for the future and that you can look up to. My inspirational woman of the week would have to be my mother. Now as cliche as it may be, a mother’s love is definitely irreplaceable. My mother is not only my hero, but a friend, a coach, a teacher (literally), a doctor, a lawyer, and everything in between.
Prior to my mother having me, she attended Montclair State University in New Jersey where she studied Chemistry. She received her Bachelors of Science degree in Pharmacy at St. John’s University School in Jamaica Queens, New York. She began working at Pathmark’s Pharmacy Department as well as working for Prescription Counter in South Orange, NJ up until I was about 6 years old. My mother always had it in her to give back to the children of the community, so she took it upon herself to go back to school for her teaching license. Continue reading Influential Woman of the Week
Life happens, and well, things don’t always go as we planned. Usually when this happens, we feel the need to hit the reset button. We try to start all over, take a different approach but maybe all you really need to do is hit the pause button. Have you ever just sat down and thought “maybe things aren’t meant to be this way”? We can be overly ambitious as humans, and this causes us to try to pursue things we ought not to at a particular point in time. God’s plan and your plan, like it or not, may just be quite opposite, or maybe your timing is just all out of whack. Continue reading God’s Plan vs. Your Plan
I know you’ve all been told at least once that you shouldn’t go to college in a relationship. It works for some, not for others. I didn’t enter college with a significant other, but I had close friends who did. And I watched them stress out over missed calls or calls that never came, long distance situations, and planning visits throughout the year. I’m not saying it can’t be done, I’m just saying, it’s a lot of work. And a huge distraction that you don’t need your first year on new territory.
Fast-forward a little bit. You didn’t enter college with a boo, but you somehow acquired one along the way. And I know you’re probably thinking, “OMG, this is so perfect!” And you two are spending all your free time together, having dinner together on campus, he’s coming to your dorm, you’re going to his. Everything is great…until you look up and realize that you’ve missed two assignments and have a test coming up! Continue reading Juggling A Relationship in College

We all go through this process in life called growing up, and the truth of the matter is, it’s more than just a phase. You don’t just pass through it, its lifelong, continuous. I am a firm believer in physical manifestation, meaning that if I cannot physically see with my own eyes what you are saying or claiming then it is null. It’s easy to really want something and declare it and profess it, but yelling and screaming it loud and proud will not bring it to manifestation. You can pray and fast but you are going to have to put in some work! Continue reading Limitations and Boundaries: Knowing when enough has become too much
